As Co-Founder and Owner of HJ Development, Gary Janisch brings years of wisdom and experience to the company's construction, sales, marketing and portfolio development efforts.
Gary spent the early years of his career with Fabcon, a precast concrete company headquartered in Savage, Minnesota. From its founding in 1970 until his retirement in 1998, Gary was in charge of sales, marketing and estimating. As an Officer of the company, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, and company shareholder, Gary was responsible for thousands of successful projects during his tenure at Fabcon.
In 1983 Jerry Hertel and Gary Janisch built their first retail project; a 7,000 square foot Tom Thumb-anchored center in Savage, Minnesota. The completion of this project marked the beginning of HJ Development.
Gary saw potential in the retail market and the newly formed HJ Development team grew this niche, from a select few retail centers, to a portfolio of retail and office properties currently in excess of 1,600,000 square feet.
What began as a retirement investment opportunity has grown into a company known for its integrity, excellent industry reputation, superior retail locations and strategic retail investment opportunities.
Gary resides in Delano, Minnesota. Outside of the office Gary enjoys fishing and spending time with his wife Peg, their children and grandchildren.
